The short version: you can use this whole site without telling us anything. Nothing you save leaves your own browser unless you ask it to.
Polar Bear Agency is the data controller for this site. If you want your data, or want it gone, write to hello@polarbearagency.com — or use the buttons on your profile page, which do it immediately and without asking us.
Your saved wines, passport stamps, routes and tasting notes are stored in your browser, on your device. They are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and we cannot recover them, because we never had them.
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.
We store your email address, and the things you have collected: which wineries you have stamped and when, the wines you saved, routes you saved or completed, and any tasting notes you wrote. That is the entire list.
We use your email address for one thing: sending you a sign-in link. We do not send marketing, and we do not pass it to the wineries or to anyone else.
Notes and ratings are private to you. Wineries cannot see them. They are not aggregated into scores or shown anywhere on the public site.
Collecting a passport stamp asks your browser for your location, to check you are actually at the winery. The answer is used for that check and then discarded — we store only whether the check passed, never a coordinate. You can refuse; the stamp still works, marked unverified.
Your profile page has a button to download everything we hold as a file, and a button to delete your account and all of it permanently. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Until you delete it. We do not expire accounts on a timer, so nothing disappears from under you — the delete button on your profile is the only thing that removes it, and it removes all of it. Sign-in links expire after seven days and can only be used once.
Winery accounts are separate from visitor accounts and are covered by the agreement between the winery and Polar Bear Agency.
